London Marathon Set to Break World Participation Record

The organizers of the London Marathon speak about their readiness to set a world record for the number of participants: more than 56 thousand runners are planning to finish the race, which takes place on April 27. The current record is 55,646 participants - established at the New York Marathon last November. The General Director of the London Marathon, Hugh Brasher, noted: "The 45th anniversary year has historical significance for us, and it would be great to surpass this milestone, becoming the largest organized marathon in the world." In Kenya, Eliud Kipchoge, the Olympic champion from Rio and Tokyo, returns to the race for the first time since 2020. Participation has already been confirmed by record-holder Ruth Chepngetich among women and Olympic champion Sivan Hassan.
